The Waldwick Community Alliance, founded by local business owners and residents in 2005, is a 501C (3) B non-profit organization whose primary purpose is the beautification of the downtown area of Waldwick, New Jersey. The restoration of the historic Waldwick Railroad Station was a major part of this beautification project. The restoration was in process for approximately 9 years and was finally completed and opened in May 2016.
Since May 2016, the Historic Waldwick Railroad Station has been home to the Waldwick Museum of Local History. The Station and Museum is open to the public several dates throughout the year and is available for private tours, as well as serving as an educational resource for students. The Waldwick Museum of Local history is a member of the Northwest Bergen History Coalition.
During the early part of 2017, the WCA and the local chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) joined together to have the VFW Hall, located at 7 Hewson Avenue, remain a viable entity in the borough of Waldwick. The VFW was no longer able to maintain the Hall and asked the WCA to take on the renovation and maintenance costs associated with the Hall. We have renovated and are maintaining the structure so that the VFW can have a place to meet and the WCA can utilize the facility as a venue for future fund-raising events and permit other community groups in Waldwick to avail themselves of its use.
